Elevate Impact — Rare Disease Collaboration Platform
Inherited a broken platform with 150+ bugs and a brand new tech stack. Stabilised the foundation, implemented GDPR compliance, and shipped 5 new features — including a full LMS page — without delays or ramp-up time.
ElevateImpact, Inc. is a collaborative platform and consulting service connecting clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates to share resources and tools. Focused on accelerating patient-centered innovation in healthcare — particularly for rare diseases including sickle cell disease — with a mission to reduce health inequities for underserved communities in Massachusetts and globally.
Bitsol reviewed and strengthened the foundational code, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and built for long-term growth. The work has spanned critical areas including GDPR compliance, backend infrastructure, and enhancements to both end-user features and admin functionality.
Two challenges that made fast progress feel impossible
Rare disease patients face a fragmented public health environment. Hospitals, researchers, and advocacy groups operate in silos with no shared visibility — slowing coordinated responses and disproportionately affecting low-income communities in Massachusetts.
- Inherited a platform with 150+ bugs slowing all progress
- GDPR compliance gaps creating regulatory risk
- Existing architecture couldn't support the scaling required
- New tech stack with no prior team documentation
- Hospitals, researchers, and advocacy groups operating in silos
- No shared visibility across the rare disease network — especially sickle cell
- Cross-sector collaboration features missing entirely
- Disproportionate impact on low-income communities in Massachusetts needing faster response
How we stabilized and accelerated in parallel
Stabilized a platform with 150+ bugs, implemented GDPR compliance, hardened backend infrastructure, and shipped 5 new features — including cross-sector collaboration tools and a full LMS page — all on a new tech stack, without delays.
- Reviewed entire foundational code — architecture, GDPR gaps, security vulnerabilities, and performance issues. Delivered a clear acceleration roadmap before writing a single new feature line.
- Systematically resolved all critical issues affecting platform stability and user experience — admin functionality, database queries, messaging, pagination, and UI rendering.
- Reviewed and implemented GDPR requirements across data handling, user consent flows, and backend infrastructure. Ensured the platform met regulatory standards for its Massachusetts and global user base.
- Built and shipped core networking features — cross-sector collaboration tools, internal pages, admin user functions, database enhancements, and a full LMS page for learning and knowledge sharing.
- Strengthened backend architecture for scalability and long-term reliability — optimized API endpoints, improved database performance, and reinforced system integrations.
- Took on a completely new technology stack from day one. Team delivered results without any ramp-up period, keeping the project on schedule from Week 1.
